NEXGEN Roofing Warranties
Most roofing contractors offer a 1-year workmanship warranty. Some offer 2. NEXGEN backs every installation with a 10-year workmanship warranty — and on qualifying shingle systems, stacks that on top of the Owens Corning Platinum Protection Limited Warranty, which includes Limited Lifetime workmanship coverage and 50 years of TRU PROtection — meaning 100% materials and labor replacement with no depreciation applied for the first 50 years.
That level of coverage is only available through Owens Corning Platinum or Preferred Contractors. Fewer than 1% of roofing contractors qualify. NEXGEN is one of them. A standard installation from a contractor who isn't certified gets zero workmanship coverage from Owens Corning — none. The warranty card exists, but when something goes wrong, the homeowner is on their own for labor costs.
This page explains exactly what each warranty covers, what it requires, and what to do if you ever need to use it.
The Two Warranties That Protect Every NEXGEN Roof
NEXGEN's 10-Year Workmanship Warranty
NEXGEN's workmanship warranty covers defects in installation — the work our crew performs — for 10 years from the date of completion. If something fails because of how the roof was installed, we come back and fix it at no cost to you.
What's covered: improper flashing installation, incorrect fastener placement, inadequate sealing at penetrations, ventilation errors, decking issues we caused or missed. If it traces back to how the roof was installed, it's covered.
What's not covered: manufacturer defects in materials (covered by the manufacturer), storm or weather damage (often times covered by homeowner's insurance), damage from modifications made to the roof after installation, or normal wear over time.
Every NEXGEN workmanship warranty is documented in writing, included in your closeout package, and transferable to one subsequent owner if you sell during the warranty period.
The Owens Corning Platinum Protection Limited Warranty
This is the strongest shingle warranty Owens Corning offers — and it requires both a qualifying full system installation and a Platinum or Preferred certified contractor. It is not available through a standard installer regardless of which products they use.
What the Platinum Protection covers:
Overall warranty length: Limited Lifetime on product defects — shingles and all qualifying Owens Corning roofing components.
TRU PROtection Period: First 50 years — 100% replacement of both materials AND labor with no depreciation applied. After 50 years it shifts to materials-only coverage. This is the number that matters. Most warranty conversations focus on "lifetime" but the real question is whether labor is covered and for how long. Platinum Protection covers labor for 50 years.
Blow Off Coverage: First 15 years against wind damage.
StreakGuard Algae Resistance: First 25 years on qualifying shingles.
Workmanship Coverage: Limited Lifetime — coverage reduces after 25 years based on roof age. This workmanship coverage is provided by Owens Corning, on top of NEXGEN's own 10-year workmanship warranty.
What it requires: minimum 4 Owens Corning components — at least 1 Hip & Ridge product, 1 Underlayment product, and 2 others. NEXGEN installs the full qualifying system on every applicable job — because the warranty requires it and because it's the right way to build a roof.

Why the Contractor Matters More Than the Warranty Card
Look at the OC warranty matrix and find the Standard Product Limited Lifetime Warranty column. Workmanship coverage: None. That's what a homeowner gets when a non-certified contractor installs Owens Corning shingles — the materials are covered, but if the installation fails, the labor is entirely on the homeowner.
Now look at the Platinum Protection column. Limited Lifetime workmanship coverage. 50 years TRU PROtection on both materials and labor.
The difference between those two outcomes is the contractor. The shingles can be identical. The warranty is not.
NEXGEN's Platinum Preferred status exists because we meet Owens Corning's standards for installation quality, customer satisfaction, insurance coverage, and professional conduct — verified on an ongoing basis. It's not a one-time certification. It has to be maintained.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the warranty transfer when I sell my home?
Yes. NEXGEN's workmanship warranty transfers to one subsequent owner. The Owens Corning Platinum Protection warranty is transferable — the new owner receives the remaining coverage. A documented, transferable manufacturer warranty is a legitimate selling point that will come up in your transaction. Read our full guide to transferring a roofing warranty →
What happens if there's storm damage?
Storm and weather damage is covered by your homeowner's insurance, not the workmanship or manufacturer warranty. Call (904) 802-7150 — NEXGEN provides same-day storm damage assessment and works alongside your adjuster. Emergency repairs →
What voids the warranty?
NEXGEN's workmanship warranty is voided by modifications to the roof made after installation without NEXGEN's involvement — including work by another contractor, penetrations without proper sealing, or damage from neglected gutters or overhanging trees. The Owens Corning warranty has its own terms available at owenscorning.com/warranty.
